NEWSLETTER 019/07 – Science Fair

Dear Parents, 

We are glad to inform you that this year we will have a Science Fair as part of the celebrations of our School Week, to be held towards the end of the bimester.  

What are the objectives of the Science Fair?

·         To bring Science and the scientific process closer to students.

·         To help our students develop research, experimental and critical thinking skills. 

Who participates?

All primary and high school students get to participate and benefit from this learning experience by presenting a Project or experiment done in class and /or at home. Kindergarten students will be doing experiments in their classes as well.  

How will they prepare for the fair?

·         Science Teachers along with the students have already set the guidelines, objectives and criteria to be used for the preparation and selection of the experiment or project. Besides, they have already started working on the projects and works in class.

·         Parents may support their children by asking them about their projects, motivating them and involving them as much as possible, emphasizing two important aspects such as tolerance and patience (repeat and try something several times).

·         The projects and experiments will be presented in Science class during the upcoming weeks. 

What age categories are there?

There are three age categories:

·         I      :  3^rd, 4^th and 5^th

·         II     :  6^th, 7^th and 8^th

·         III   :  9^th, 10^th and 11^th  

Highschool Science  Fair - to be held on September 27^th  at 7:00 p.m.

Six works will be chosen among the classes in each of the grades to be exhibited in the Science Fair. 

Primary Science Fair – to be held on October 2^nd at 6.30 p.m.

In the morning, all the students will get to present their works to the other classes. 

In the evening, those who would like to present their works to their parents, relatives and friends will be able to do so at 6:30 p.m. 

What do we need?

We need parents (working in scientific fields) who would like to:

·         Participate as judges.

·         Give a lecture or talk on a particular subject (parents themselves or the institutions they work for throughout the week).

·         Donate awards and prizes for the different categories (scholarships, scientific equipment, free activities, etc.).

CIRCULAR 019/07 - Feria de Ciencias

Estimados padres de familia:

 

Este año se realizará la Feria de Ciencias nuevamente dentro de las celebraciones por la  Semana del Colegio (fin de este bimestre). 

¿Cuál es el objetivo?

·         Acercar a los alumnos a las Ciencias y al proceso científico.

·         Fomentar habilidades de investigación, experimentación y pensamiento crítico. 

¿Quiénes participan?

Participan de esta experiencia de aprendizaje todos los alumnos y alumnas de primaria y secundaria presentando un experimento o proyecto realizado en clase y/o en casa. Los niños y niñas de inicial también realizarán experimentos en clase. 

¿Cómo se prepararán para la feria?

·         Los profesores de Ciencias han planteado las metas, criterios y pautas para la selección y preparación del experimento o proyecto con los alumnos.  Además, han estado haciendo avances del trabajo en clase.

·         Los padres de familia pueden apoyar a sus hijos preguntándoles, motivándolos, involucrándose en el tema, enseñándoles lo que es la tolerancia y la paciencia (repetir y probar varias veces).

·         En las siguientes semanas se estará iniciando las presentaciones de los trabajos durante la clase de Ciencias. 

¿Cuáles son las categorías?

Existen tres categorías:

·         I    :  3º, 4º y 5º

·         II   :  6º, 7º y 8º

·         III  :  9º, 10º y 11º 

Feria en Secundaria - jueves 27 de setiembre a las 7:00 p.m.

Se seleccionarán seis trabajos de cada promoción para ser expuestas en la Feria de Ciencias. 

Feria en Primaria - martes 2 de octubre a las 6:30 p.m.

En la mañana, todos los alumnos y alumnas tendrán la oportunidad de presentar sus trabajos a sus compañeros. 

En la tarde, los que deseen presentar sus trabajos a sus padres, familiares y amigos podrán hacerlo a las 6:30 p.m. 

¿Qué necesitamos?

Necesitamos padres científicos que:

·         deseen ser jurado.

·         deseen dar charlas, conversatorios (ellos o sus empresas durante la semana).

·         puedan apoyar con la donación de premios por categorías (becas, objetos científicos, actividades libres, etc.).
