Dear Parents, Our students have successfully started their new school year. Each grade has found new challenges that we hope will motivate them to accomplish the tasks set for the year. For example, the 9th and 10th grade students have started the process for their essays and research papers that correspond to each of these grades. Let’s help all students to see these changes and new expectations with optimism as they are opportunities for growth and improvement. We hope our first parents meetings have contributed to building this spirit and set the conditions for good team work between parents and the school. If you have any comments or suggestions for future meetings, we would appreciate it if you would contact the homeroom teacher. If you were not able to attend the meeting, remember you should try to find the information provided that day and contact the corresponding homeroom teacher. In April, you are invited to come to our School Fair where you can get information about the curriculum in all areas, and get to know your children’s teachers as well. You will also find detailed information on the recycling and nutrition campaigns we will be working on. We would also like to inform you that on April 5th and 19th, the 2008 prospective parents visits will take place in our school for all parents who are interested in registering their children next year and would like to take this opportunity to meet us. Here are the main activities going on this month:
We will be sending additional details on these and other activities. Our Counseling Department will be conducting special evaluations on 2nd and 7th graders this month and will be organizing hearing tests for our younger students as well. Homeroom teachers have provided guidelines on the toys your child is allowed to bring to school. We kindly ask you to follow them. Children must be advised to not wear roller shoes, bring skateboards or valuables into the school. Finally, we invite you to keep in touch with us throughout the year, and to browse our website for upcoming activities, newsletters and notices. Please, feel free to look for opportunities to meet with teachers and maintain a fluid communication with them through your son/daughter’s planner, over the phone and/or e-mail. Sincerely,

Estimados padres y madres de familia: Los chicos y chicas han iniciado exitosamente su nuevo año escolar. Cada grado ha encontrado novedades y retos que esperamos sean estímulos para el trabajo que deberemos realizar. Los chicos y chicas de 9º y 10º han iniciado los procesos de elaboración de sus ensayos y monografías respectivamente. Ayudemos a nuestros hijos e hijas a ver estos cambios y posibles nuevas exigencias con optimismo, pues todas constituyen oportunidades para crecer y mejorar. En este sentido esperamos que nuestras primeras reuniones de padres de familia hayan contribuido a generar este espíritu en todos y a plantear las bases para un buen trabajo conjunto. Si tienen comentarios sobre dichas reuniones o sugerencias para futuras ocasiones, les agradeceríamos que nos las hagan llegar a través de los tutores. Asimismo, si no lograron asistir, les recordamos la necesidad de informarse y tomar contacto personal con el(la) tutor(a) correspondiente. En abril tendremos la actividad de School Fair, en la que esperamos que puedan informarse sobre el currículo de las diferentes áreas de trabajo en el grado de su hijo(a), así como conocer a todos sus profesores. También encontrarán más detalles de las campañas de reciclaje y nutrición que estaremos trabajando con sus hijos e hijas. Les informamos también que los días sábado 5 y 19 de abril se estarán realizando visitas guiadas en el colegio para padres interesados en que sus hijos ingresen al colegio el próximo año y que quieran conocernos. Pueden avisar a amigos o familiares interesados. A continuación, les informamos de las actividades más importantes del mes de abril:
Sobre estas y otras actividades les informaremos más detalles oportunamente. El psicopedagógico también continuará sus evaluaciones especiales, esta vez en 2º y 7º, además de organizar los despistajes auditivos para los alumnos menores. Aprovechamos para pedirles que sigan las indicaciones de las tutoras de cada nivel respecto a los juguetes que los chicos pueden traer al colegio y más bien evitar que traigan skates, zapatillas con rueditas y cosas de valor. Finalmente, los invitamos a seguir en contacto todo el año, a informarse en nuestra página web de actividades, circulares (“newsletters”) y comunicados por grados (“notices”), a aprovechar las oportunidades de reunirnos, así como también a mantenerse en comunicación fluida con los profesores y tutores de sus hijos e hijas a través de la agenda y el correo electrónico.
